Exchange 2003 Performance Counter Problem
Hi I have a 2 node (Active/passive) Exchange 2003 Sp2 Cluster. I am able to view the MSExchangeIS counters if I open perfmon locally on both nodes. The problem is when I do this remotley with perfmon it show me all the counters from the remote server but not the MSExchangeIS counters. It is just not on the list This is causing our monitoring software not being able to view the information. WMI test work fine locally and remotley. I have confirmed rights etc...I am testing it with my account. Any ideas? Regards Jacobus

Hi Thank you. Yes I have. Cannot find anything related to my problem in it. I need MSExchangeIS * counters to be visible remotley using perfmon. I have another cluster which is working remotley. Same setup. One of my co workers had the exact same problem on another cluster but cannot remember how they fixed it. Any other ideas? Regards Jacobus

Hi, Please try the following method to work-around the issue. To work around this issue, give Read permissions and Write permissions to the Performance Monitor Users group for the Application log in Windows Server 2003. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit , and then click OK. 2. Locate, and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\Application 3. In the right pane, right-click CustomSD, and then click Modify. 4. In the Edit String dialog box, append the following string to the value that appears in the Value data box: (A;;0x3;;;MU) 5. On the File menu, click Exit. Note: Please backup the registry before you do any modification. Regards, Xiu

Hi Thank you for your feedback. I did find the articile to do this for 2007 so I presume that is where you got it from as well. I am a local admin on both nodes so I automatically have access to write and read to the application log. The default customSD list includes Local Admin group. Or MUST it be the Performance Monitor Group? Regards Jacobus
