Exchange 2003 Public Folders
I am replicating piblic folders from EX 2003 ro EX 2010. I want to remove the last EX 2003 server but I do not understand how to make the public folders live on EX 2010 and stop replication. Is there an easy way to do this? I just shut
off my EX 2003 server and I still see my public folders on EX 2010. I'm guessing that is a good sign...Thank You, Scott

Once removed, let it replicate for a while and then remove the 2003 PF DB.Sukh

My public folders are already replicating and in sync. Why can't I just shut off replication on the 2003 server. Wont they stay on the 2010 server? That was how you moved from 5.5 to 2000 and 2000 to 2003.Thank You, Scott

Hi Scott, Are there still replicas on the 2003 server? If so, then you have to remove them - ensuring first that all the item counts match between the 2003 and 2010 replicas and all the replicas are , well, replicated....
Then verify that the default public folders stores for all the 2010 Mailbox Stores are set to the 2010 PF server.
Once you get there, I like to dismount the 2003 pf store for a few days, see if anyone complains. They shouldnt if all the replicas have been removed and correctly replicated
After that, if all is good, remove the 2003 pf store server etc.. and go from there.

I can't find the remove replica's command to save my live in 2003 EMS. The two servers are in sync. I shut down the 2003 server today and I could access all public servers on the 2010 server without issue.
On 2010 server how do I set set the mailbox store to PF?Thank You, Scott

There is no remove replicas command in Exchange 2003 EMS.
You can use pfdavadmin to remove replicas in bulk or the Wizard in 2003 SP2:

To set the mailbox stores on 2010 to point to the 2010 pf servers see:

I found it. The move all replica command is at the public folder store level. I moved the public folders to the Exchange 2010 server. Tomorrow I will stop the store service and see what happens.Thank You, Scott

Ok, *move* all replicas as opposed to *remove" all replicas. I thought they were already replicated. Regardless, hope it works out for you!

I'm closer... I found a couple of good sites that show how to do it step by step.
What service would I stop on Exchange 2003 to test this for a few days? Info store service?
Thank you for the help!Thank You, Scott

Hi
If you just want to test public folder, you have better dismounted PF database. You needn't stop IS service.

ok
After moving all replicas to Exchange 2010 I can no longer access sevral public folders. I have 6 folders with sub folders. Only 1 or 6 got screwed up. That's not to bad... :-) I will try to undo this tomorrow.
The error is that the folders are no longer reachable. What the heck! I need to dump these things...Thank You, Scott

Yes I do. I spent 5 hours on the phone with Microsoft yesterday. The folders would not move to Exchange 2010. We finally used the PST files I made days ago and imported them into the Exchange 2010 server. Moral of the story.
Moving them in this manor took 20 minutes. It is 100% the prefered method. Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2010 don't play together nicely. Exchange 2003 servers are gone. Life is now good!
Thanks to everyone on this thread for trying to help.Thank You, Scott
