Exchange 2003 Remote Entourage
Hello Newsgroup, We run SBS 2003 (Exchange 2003), and we have our first remote user who wants to access his email using his own email client, not OWA. His client happens to be Entourage. I don't think we have POP or IMAP activated. But, my new iphone connects very easily. Is there something I have to enable at the server for him to access his mailbox? Or does Entourage simply take the same configuration that my iphone takes (email address, server name, username and password)? Many thanks in advance! Matthew

Matthew, Entourage uses WebDAV to connect to the Exchange environment by default so you might have to open this in our firewall. Another option is to enable pop3/imap where IMAP maybe the most solution. Why your iPhone is working is because it is using ActiveSync to synchronize your mailbox content. I would agree, IMAP may be a better solution, as Entourage will also like to have access to the domain controller via LDAP; you won't want access available to that remotely, and dependent on Entourage version, it may be trying to use EWS to connect. If you're using IMAP it may also make for an easier transition if/when you move to Exchange 2010. SteveSteve Goodman Check out my Blog for more Exchange info or find me on Twitter
