Exchange 2003 Replication across 2 local servers with 1 Domain Controller
Hi, I've currently setup 2 physical servers1 Small Business Server 2003, 1 R2 server 2003. With active Directory Replication (which is replicating successfully). I've installed Exchange 2003 & service packedon the SBS server, and run domainprep.exe I've then moved on and installed Exchange 2003 & service packed on the R2 server. both servers can be seen in the Exchange System Manager on both server, but neither is replicating both servers have full adminstrators priveiliges & are associated with the same domain. with small business server being the domain controller. The "Microsoft site replication service is running on both servers" The system clocks on both servers are in sync. From my Local IT Professional networks, I've been advised that exchange 2003 setup will automatically detect another exchange server on the Domain and will automatically setup the 2nd exchange server to replicate, with the first. I've repeated these stepstwice by completely uninstalling the exchangeserver& reinstalling, with resulting in reaching the same issue. I've run policytest.exe and it returns successful results. Do I need to do any further configurations for replication to occur? or is there an issue? Any Ideas would be much appricated. Thank you

i will be watching this one as well. we are trying to replicate 2 exchange server private stores for disaster recovery purposes and have performed the same steps. it seems that only the public stores will replicate and that a cluster config is need to make the private stores reduncant. hopefully someone with better kung fu than us will respond to this note. ken TSiLive.com

You can't replicate the message stores like you do with the public stores. When you install Exchange to the second server the "Exchange Org" just considers it another exchange server. In order to replicate private message stores you have to use replication technologies, either hardware or software based. This is used in DR scenario's.Here is a link describing data replication for exchangehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/895847
