Thate are no "recipient containers" in the AD, only Organizational Units and Containers. You're using the Active Directory Users and Computers MMC to create the group, right? Find the OU in the directory tree, right-click it and select "New> | Group". >when i checked the GAL i noticed that distribution recipient's _Sales, _IT, _Techs where gone? If that's true then those users are still in the AD and the mailboxes in Exchange. Do the recipiets get the messages you send or not? >better yet the backups for Exchange are gone? Nobody's going to be able to help you with that. Make another backup, pronto! >I need to get the recipient's back ? If they're gone from the AD then restoring Exchange isn't going to help. You'd have to restore the AD. >Help if found can i restore the users mail boxes? Are the users still in the AD? **If that's true then those users are still in the AD and the mailboxes in Exchange. Do the recipiets get the messages you send or not? Yes - If theuser has it cached in their "To" Outlook then it will be sent ***Nobody's going to be able to help you with that. Make another backup, pronto! Yes, have completed full backup!!!! ***If they're gone from the AD then restoring Exchange isn't going to help. You'd have to restore the AD. No ****Are the users still in the AD? Are the mailboxes still in the Information stor (in a disconnected state)? Yes all users are still in the AD and GAL ****I think you need to restate your problem a little more clearly. What's missing? Users? Mailboxes? Both? OK, The OU "Recipiantents" is missing in the AD users and computers - and no longer in the GAL. that OU had the group of user in them that belonged t that dept. *****

The question was whether or not the recipient mailbox receives the message. >***Nobody's going to be able to help you with that. Make another backup, >pronto! > >Yes, have completed full backup!!!! Good. >***If they're gone from the AD then restoring Exchange isn't going to >help. You'd have to restore the AD. > >No No what? No they aren't gone from the AD or you don't think you'd have to restore the AD? >****Are the users still in the AD? Then how come you say that "Yes all users are still in the AD and GAL"??? Either you're very confused or I'm completely misunderstanding your problem. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
