Exchange 2003 Routing Groups
Hi All,
I have one query regarding Routing Groups. I Have Three different Location and Exchange 2003 installed in each location. All the locations are connected with Three Routing Groups. Out of three location one is our Child Domain. Whenever we send the mail to
Child Domain It takes time to reach, also i m getting the below message whenever i want to expand or access Child Server from Administrative Groups--> First Adm. Group---->Server option-- of System Manager after Login to Parent Domain.
---------------------------
Exchange System Manager
---------------------------
The action could not be completed because the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service is unavailable. Be sure the service is running and you have network connectivity to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer.
Operation: Retrieving mount information.
ID no: c1041721
Exchange System Manager
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
Please Help
Thanks

If you use RDP and log on to that server do you have the same problem?
If not then the problem is related to your network. Perhaps there is a
firewall that's preventing access to the machine?
SMTP is used to deliver the messages between routing groups. Are you
seeing any 4xx status messages from the server during the SMTP
conversation? Are you seeing any problems with BDAT commands or
authentication to that server? Do messages FROM that server take an
eaually long time to be delivered, or is it only a problem with
messages sent TO that server?

Hi Rich,
Thanks for reply
I am able to access all the Exchange server after login to the Child Domain Exchange Server. I am login in Child Server but i am selecting parent Domain( Is it fine).
Can you have any idea what should i have to allow in Firewall, what should i check in firewall.
Also i forget to mention one thing that mails are working fine from both end, but any one send mail to bulk users then we get a delay message for some users of child Domain.
Also plz let tell me how i can check BDAT commands or authentication to that server.
Thanks
Mukesh

Putting a firewall between Exchange servers pretty much means using an
"any-to-any" rule, turning your firewall into an expensive router.

There's no need if the e-mails are delivered.

Hi,
For problem of Exchange System Manager "The action could not be completed because the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service is unavailable" you need to add remote exchange server
Fqdn IN ADVANCED tcp/ip settings and check. Its looking time out issue due to week WAN link between sites.
For slow mail delivery , Did you track the messahe and can see where it take time, What is BW between link.

Hi Anil,
I tried that option but don't get any success, after putting the DNS suffix, i am not able to ping my child Domin thru Hostname, it does not resolve the Host Name. But without Putting this i am able to Ping.
Also the Cost of all the RG is same i.e 1.
Kindly Suggest.
thanks

Hi Mukesh,
Can you again check all services on exchage box sitting in child domain, Is there any log related to DNS lookup. Do you see any issue when you do nslookup for parent domain exchnage server.
Add detail of child domain exchnage in parent host file name and check , if not fixed then Please try to restart SA in child domain and check againAnil

Hi Anil,
Thanks a ton for your Help and consistent Reply, Now i am able to access the child domain server from Parent System manager. I have done only the Host Entry of Child Domain Ex. Server on Parent Domain Ex. Server and it fixed the issue. Thanks again.
But One thing i want to know can i able to create its host Entry on Parent DNS Server. So that i can resolve its name from all the Network of Parent Server. I was trying to make the Host Entry but did not succeed.
Appricate if any suggestion, But its enough if it didn't get resolve as my problem get already resolved.
Thanks
Mukesh
