Exchange 2003 With Multiple Domains
Hello, I have exchange 2003 installed on Windows 2003 Server and I also have 3 domains which receives emails from internet using exchange server abc.comdef.comhij.comNow we purchased a new domain called 123.com and we are going to remove all 3 domains from exchange server and we will keep only 1 domain which is 123.com.If some one from hotmail mails to abc.com there should be a message generated from my exchange that " Email address is changed and contact jdoe@123.com"Thanks

I doubt if this can be done by default. Try out some third part tools which can do this for you http://www.slipstick.com/addins/notify.aspor http://www.exclaimer.com/Although this is possible from the outlook but not from the exchange server. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/exchangesvrclients/thread/a7a74c5d-fd1a-46a8-a1d1-1d3b586f8e6bRaj

You will have to create server based auto reply rule on users Outlook Profile which is tedious job. Better you keep the 123.com as primary and rest all domains as secondary and gradually remove these domains once senders are familiar /used to with new domain.Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

2 things that you will have to consider here;1st would be to make sure all 3 older domain names remain live on internet and pointed to your exchange server though they are not being used.2nd is to figure out a third party software that can do this for you on behalf of Exchange. Exchange 2003 wont do it for you due to limitations of transport compopnents. As Rajnish has already linked a product for you, you may try that. An additional opinion: to do this you can consider using an IIS based smart host box to install the third party utility to avoid any problems with Exchange transport components. And, of course I would recomend you testing this one in labs before you install in production :-) all the best for your project.Milind Naphade | MCTS:M (Exchange 2007 and 2010) | http://www.msexchangegeek.com

Hi,The three domains need to be keeped until all external users know the new changing on your domain, otherwise the NDR will be received for the Internet user. The best practice is use the third party tool since only Outlook client can generate the auto-reply for your message. You need to set the rule on every client which is time consuming.ThanksAllen
