Exchange 2003 can't get email from two AOL users all others are fine.
We have two customers that use @AOL.com emails... when then send us email it usually never makes it or if it does it takes a long time. I have checked our DNS globally (http://www.whatsmydns.net/) and the MX records look fine.. The email bounce back shows that the DNS timed out basically.. These are the ONLY two users that can not send us email. They say that they don't have issues sending to anyone else. ANY ideas? <!-- /* Font Definitions */ @font-face {font-family:"Cambria Math"; panose-1:2 4 5 3 5 4 6 3 2 4; mso-font-alt:"Calisto MT"; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:roman; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-1610611985 1107304683 0 0 415 0;} @font-face {font-family:Calibri; panose-1:2 15 5 2 2 2 4 3 2 4; mso-font-alt:"Times New Roman"; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:swiss; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-520092929 1073786111 9 0 415 0;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-unhide:no; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"; mso-fareast-font-family:Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin;} a:link, span.MsoHyperlink {mso-style-priority:99; color:blue; mso-themecolor:hyperlink; text-decoration:underline; text-underline:single;} a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed {mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; color:purple; mso-themecolor:followedhyperlink; text-decoration:underline; text-underline:single;} .MsoChpDefault {mso-style-type:export-only; mso-default-props:yes; font-size:10.0pt; mso-ansi-font-size:10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;} @page WordSection1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.0in 1.0in 1.0in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.WordSection1 {page:WordSection1;} --> From: MAILER-DAEMON@aol.com To: AOLUser@aol.com Sent: 9/21/2010 3:29:55 P.M. Ok, couple of questions. Are you using a Smarthost or Firewall to filter mail? Have you enabled Message Tracking to insure the message is actually reaching your Exchange Server? Do you have SPF Record for your domain? Providing your domain name would also help in troubleshooting this issue.MVP Exchange Server

IF your Exchange server is not checking reverse DNS. Then try telnetiing to your exchange server from the internet ( from outside your network). Send a mail to incorporating the "mail from:user@aol.com to the expected recipient in your domain. Check the SMTP session ESM of Exchange 2003 and reason out why it is not being delivered.

You need to telnet to mx1.yourcompnay.com or mx1.yourcompnay.com at port 25... else try to telent on your smarthost , but that will not show in smtp sessions in esm.

Without your having posted your true domain name it's very difficult to help troubleshoot. So, generically speaking, I would first make sure your public IP address has a PTR - AOL is particularly fussy about that.Lanwench [MVP - Exchange] ** Do not fold, spindle or mutilate. Hi, Please access the following article and modify the domain name to your company’s domain name, and click Go button to get the MX record. After that, please run Telnet command again to check whether the email can be sent via Telnet. http://network-tools.com/nslook/Default.asp Thanks. Novak Wu-MSFT
