Exchange 2003 question
We have several part time employees that only work over the summer. When they are not working, I disable their accounts. People who email them while their account is disabled are not getting a bounce-back. I would like to set this up. Please advise, Tim

Your solution depends on whether or not you actually want to accept the mail and send an auto-response, or if you actaully want to return the mail with an NDR.If you want to accept the mail, but just send a response back to the sender that the person won't respond until they return, then you should setup an out-of-office reply for each of those recipients. If you actually want to reject the mail entirely, use the 'message restrictions' option:User account properties -> Exchange General tab -> Deliver Restrictions -> at the bottom under the 'Message restrictions' header, check the radio button next to 'Accept messages Only from: and then leave the box empty. This will reject messages globally for that user and senders will receive an NDR back stating that they don't have permissions to send mail to that user.Hope that helps,Discostew

What's odd is that I can change message restrictions to only 1k and it will only work from inside the network. If I send from my Yahoo account, I don't get an NDR? I also tried changing the settings so that the user will only accept mail from a test user I created, but I still do not get an NDR from outside. We only have one DC and one Exchange server.... Do I need to wait for the changes to "take"? Thanks again, Tim
