Exchange 2003 setup - Please Help
Hi there, I am totally new to all of this, so I would be grateful for any help. Here is the situ : I will be setting up an Exchange 2003 Server and using a POP3 connector to retrieve the mail from a national mail server, which is all well and good. My question is how do I route theoutgoing mail from the Exchange server to the external mail server (do I even do that...or do I send it straight from my Exchange Server?)? Thanks S.J.Grant.

Hello there SJGrant. I assume that you have set up the POP3 connection already, so we'll go to the outgoing mail situation; Outgoing mail can be set up on the SMTP Virtual Server, or you could create a separate SMTP Connector instead. The SMTP Virtual Server should be enough in most situations though. If you want to relay all outgoing mail to your external mailserver, set the "Smart Host" value to the IP-Address of your external SMTP server [123.456.789.10] Remember to enclose the IP-Address in brackets [ ]. Hope this helps. Br. Stefan M.
