Exchange 2007/2003 disaster
OK -I'm a new administrator at a company with about 300+ users, 20+ different sites (5 folks on office 2k7 the rest are still on 2k3)and a mess of a mail system.Previous admins and consultants had an exchange 2003 environment set up with a primary and a failover server. They used doubletake software to configure the failover (we are forced to use it now but that's irrelevent.) They failed over and ruined something so they upgraded to 2007 without properly decommisioning the previous two servers so we still have remnants in AD. We are working on removing the exchange 2007 installation on the failover server because it does not work correctly ( Transport service fails, and a myriad of other problems. Looks like they tried the install about 5 times (OS and Application) before they left it. Anyway i'm having trouble uninstalling the mailbox role, i get a public folder error. Does anyone know how to correct this error so i can uninstall exchange here? Also what is the best way to remove incorrectly decommisoned exchange servers? ( I have seen it's using ADSIedit but fooling around in there is nearly career suicide)Error: Uninstall cannot continue. Database pub1: the critical property 'publicfodlerhierarchy' is missing in the publicfolderdatabase object

Can you run the ExBPA to see if you get any relevant error? And about public folder hierarchy you need to check below article...
Public folder hierarchy not found
And while removing Exchange server you need to move content to another PF instance...
How to Move Public Folder Content from one Public Folder Database to Another Public Folder Database
Perfect way to remove Exchange 2007 server is to remove from Add/Remove program but if it is already removed without proper removal then you need to recover it on atemporaryserver with /RecoverServer switch and then remove it from Add/Remove Program...

Hello Amit,I followed instructions on using Adsiedit to fix the public folder problem. Now when i go to uninstall exchange i get the public folder contains replicas error message. How does one remove folders or move the replicas in order to uninstall the mailbox role? Thanks,Andy

Hey Andy,
Actually PFs need to be moved to any other PF DB to uninstall Exchange 2007 server.
Move the contents of the first Exchange2007server public folder database to the public folder database on the second Exchange2007server. For more information, seeHow to Move Public Folder Content from one Public Folder Database to Another Public Folder Database.
Verify that all replicas have moved to the public folder database on the second Exchange2007 server by using theGet-PublicFolderStatisticscmdlet. For more information, seeGet-PublicFolderStatistics.
Refer below article for removing first Exchange 2007 server (that is for coexistence but applies for non-coexistence Exchange 2007 server also, just skip the RGC changes portion)

When you run
MoveAllReplicas.ps1 -Server Server01 -NewServer Server02
do wait for atleast 15 minutes to see that all replicas have been moved to Server02 before running Get-PublicFolderStatistics cmdlet.
