Exchange 2007: Pausing outbound mail queue
Hi there We deliver via an outgoing SMTP smarthost. Should this smarthost stop accepting mail fro what ever reason, is there a way Exchange 2007 can be configure to pause mailflow instead of attempting to deliver. In the event that this happens, users recieve returned mail stating the the smarthost rejected their email, and we would like to avoid this. Stephane

Your could stop the Microsoft Exchange Transport service. However, this will stop any delivery. MCTS: Messaging | MCSE: S+M | Small Business Specialist

Yes that would stop all mailflow. We would like to target the particular Send Connector and avoid a manual process. Stephane

What about creating redundancy, an additional smart host? Exchange 2007 SP1 Send Connector to Smart Hosts with 2 IP addresses http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrdeploy/thread/0f81d16d-ae2f-4607-911d-258637741e9d MCTS: Messaging | MCSE: S+M | Small Business Specialist

Hi, To use send connector with two Smart Host which can provide the load balanced and fault tolerance. If one of smarthost is not avaiable, it will attempt to the other one. Thanks Allen
