Exchange 2007: forward mail to external adress
Hello!Does anybody know how to forward a mailbox to an external email adress? I tried the 2003 method (new mailbox with an external adress) but that didn't work. Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi,
Use:
Set-Mailbox -Identity <user|guid|smtp> -ForwardingAddress:<smtpaddress> -DeliverToMailboxAndForward:<$true|$false>

Does it also work for an external address??
I can't get it to work like this:
Set-Mailbox -Identitytest -ForwardingAddress test@test.com -DeliverToMailboxAndForward $trueThats what I get when I try the command:Object test@test.com could not be found. Please make sure that it was spelled correctly or specify a different object. At line:1 char:1+ S <<<< et-Mailbox -Identity test -ForwardingAddress test@test.com-DeliverToMailboxAndForwardtrue
Thanks

Does anyone really know how to forward email to an external email address? The set mailbox command referenced here seems to only work for internal email / AD accounts...
thanks,

the fowarding object must not only be an SMTP address, it must be a contact with an external SMTP address.

Excellent-
Thank you- that works.
Next question: Can Iforward to multiple external accounts? If so, what are the steps?
Thanks again....

Create a DL that contains contacts, and put the DL as the forwarding address.

OK, how about this?
I have a secondary domain (which is used only for email)which I've just pointed to my SBS 2003 Exchange server. The default recipient policy has been amended to include the new domain, and all is working well.
Two users of this domain have aliases (i.e. forwarded addresses) which I need somehow to set up in SBS.
I could create use accounts and mailboxes for the users, then set up forwarding as described above, but I'd rather avoid this as the individuals will never be required to log into the server.
Is it possible to set up simple, permanentmail forwarding to a fixed address without creating a mailbox?
Thanks...
Mike

New-MailContact -Name "Users Name" -ExternalEmailAddress "email@externalemail.com"then you can set the forwarding, either by using power shell, or by changing the delivery options

Hi There,
I have tried this syntax which worked fine. But I have one weird problem. When I try to forward my emails from user
A to user B it works fine no problem at all, but when I try the same syntax (obviously with the change or name and address) with user
C it doesn't work. Syntax is right and working fine.
Here is my issue: I have users in the same OU and same Container. When I try use this syntax with user A
to user B it works fine. BUT WHEN I TRY WITH USER A TO USER C
OR USER D TO USER CIT DOESN'T WORK. The error message I get is: the object could not be found (user C). The problem only comes with user C. But the user C is in the same OU and Container as other users.
Please help me out here.
Thanks Guys
