Hi there,I am expereincing what I think is quite a bizarre problem, I have recently removed a domain from our Exchange 2007 server, and deleted the relevant users mailboxes. In all Outlook 2007 Clients these old addreses no longer appear in the Global address book - bar one user. For this user the addresses still appear in his GAL and obviously return an error when they try to send to these addreses. I have recreated the profile with no success and am confused as to why these addreses are still in the GAL, is anybody able to shed any light on this - I am mighty confused.

Is this particular user using Outlook 2007 in "local cache mode"? If so, can you force an offline address book update and see if he/she is updating their local OAB files properly? That would be my first guess.

Yes they were. I discovered a few other users were actually having this problem also so I ran 'update-globaladdresslist' on the defaultGAL on the Exchange 2007 server and then went to the clients in question and re - downloaded address lists. The problem seems to be fixed. An interesting point though, when I ran the update on Exchange 2007 I got quite a few of these: WARNING: The recipient "name" is invalid and could not be updated.

Where did you see the "recipient name is invalid" messages? On the screen or in the event log? If they were in the event log, can you share the exact message?

My apologies I should have been more explicit, I ran the command in the Exchange management shell, the message appeared on a variety of addreses which I think were from migrated public folders. I should also mention that I migrated from SBS 2003 R2 to Exchnage 2007 on this system.

I can now confirm that when I run the command Update-GlobalAddressList "default global address list"and get the message:WARNING: The recipient "domain.local/Microsoft Exchange System Objects/addressname" isinvalid and could not be updated.The addresses that could not be updated are from public folders, from a retired Exchange 2003 server. Is there a script I can run to get rid of these, as there are 100's of these errors when I run the command.

I receive a similar message and would also appreciate any information about how to delete these remnant objects. Someof my messages, though, relate to older OAB versions: WARNING: The recipient "domain.local/Microsoft Exchange System Objects/OAB Version 2" is invalid and could not be updated. Has anyone found any type of explination for this or a fix for this?
