Exchange 2007 & Sending Restrictions
Hi,
With Exchange 2003 I was able to create smtp connectors and set permissions appropriately- if I wanted to, for example, block all external mail except few domains to all users, with exceptions. With Exchange 2007 (no service pack) installed on Windows 2008 R2 can I do this same thing? I am very confused and cannot find anything helpful when I search on google. We have a group of people that we only want them to send emails to specific domains. All other outbound email blocked. We also have another group of people where all outbound mail is allowed.
Can I utilize the same features in exchange 2007 as I did in 2003?

In Exchnage 2007, you can use transport rules to block send and recieve of emails. For exchange 2003, probabaly you can try this on the SMTP connector:Go to Exchange system manager, routing groups, SMTP connector. Select properties of this connector, click Delivery Restriction and add the user name under "reject message from".So basically what you can do is you can create SMTP connector for the domains in question and then can add your users to accept or reject lists.

I created a transport rule to deny all emails sent outside the organization. Now, for a separate group of users how can I tell exchange to only allow outbound emails to certain domains?
We were able to easily get this done with exchange 2003.
Thanks

Hi,For this issue, you should create two tranport rules to do this job. Please first place all the users except for the separte group into one group which named Test Group, then Condition: select from a member of distribution list (Test Group), sent to users inside or outside the organization (outside), Action: silently drop the message.Rule 2: Condition: select from a member of distribution list (separate group), sent to users inside or outside the organization (outside), Action: silently drop the message, Exceptions: except when the text specific words apears in a message header (certain domain).ThanksAllen
