Exchange 2007 - Equipment Resource not sending denied requests when there are booking conflicts
I have a problem in Exchange 2007 where I create an Equipment Resource and everything appears to be working fine but when I book the resource the first time. Once I book it the first time it sends back an ACCEPT message which is fine but whn I try to book the same equipment resource again for the same exact time and date from another users account to test the conflict resolution part it the Exchange 2007 system send back a TENATIVE email booking reply. I do not want a TENATIVE reply but a DENIED reply if the resource was already booked by another person earlier in the day. How do I fix this?Capt

Below are the results of the Get-MailboxCalendarSettings <room> | FL command you asked me to run. To clarify; if you now send a request to the resource when it is open do you get a tentative or an acceptance?TBrennan

I first get a TENATIVE email if I try to rebook analready booked that time slot. Basically this is a conflict and its not sending the DENIED email that I beleive I shoudl receive for the second booking instance.Capt

To me it looks like you have some conflicting policies, you have the same group set for all of these yet you don't have any delegates setup.RequestOutOfPolicy : {HHH-GROUP}AllRequestOutOfPolicy : FalseBookInPolicy : {HHH-GROUP}AllBookInPolicy : TrueRequestInPolicy : {HHH-GROUP}AllRequestInPolicy : FalseThanksWillWill Shepherd - MCSE/MCITP/MCTS (Windows 2008,Exchange 2007,OCS 2007)

I did not sure what you mean by delegates. I did not want any person to approve the equipment bookingI just want to system to determine if a conflict exists and send a DENIED email to the person requesting the already booked equipment time. What do you think?Capt

Removethe HHH-GROUP from RequestOutofPolicy, BookInPolicy and RequestInPolicy and then try another test to see how it works.ThanksWillWill Shepherd - MCSE/MCITP/MCTS (Windows 2008,Exchange 2007,OCS 2007)

Not to sound crazy, but what is the commandto remove the HHH-GROUP from those options? What affect will this have on the Equipment Resource?Capt

You can use the Set-MailboxCalendarSettings <room> -RequestOutofPolicy $null for each of the options to remove the group. By default these are empty when a room is created and a couple of these require a delegate to respond to the meeting notice if there is a conflict. So I am thinking that the room is waiting on the delegate to tell it what to do but you don't have one defined.ThanksWillWill Shepherd - MCSE/MCITP/MCTS (Windows 2008,Exchange 2007,OCS 2007)

Hi, You can check the definition of these attribute on calendar settings from the following article: Set-MailboxCalendarSettings http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996340.aspx Regards, Xiu

Will,Thanks for all your help. You got me going in the right direction. The fix to onlyalow the "HHH" group to book the resourcebut at the same time resolve booking conflictsfor anyone in that group was to check the option for the resource in OWA under the Resource Settings options as I outlined below.Note: The options in with *andbold are the only ones you have checked to make this work. Leave all othersat default settings.Resource Scheduling Options * Automatically process meeting requests and cancellations * Disable Reminders Maximum number of days: * Always decline if end date is beyond this limit * Limit meeting duration Maximum allowed minutes: Allow scheduling only during working hours Allow conflicts * Allow recurring meetings Allow up to this number of individual conflicts: Allow up to this percentage of individual conflicts: Resource Scheduling Permissions Specify users and groups which have permissions to schedule this resource by sending a meeting requestThese users can schedule automatically if the resource is available:Everyone * Select Users and Groups: HHH These users can submit a request for manual approval if the resource is available:Everyone * Select Users and Groups: **** Leave this blank **** These users can schedule automatically if the resource is available and can submit a request for manual approval if the resource is unavailable:Everyone * Select Users and Groups: *** leave this blank *** For requests requiring approval:* Always forward to delegatesAlways tentatively accept these requests Capt
