Exchange 2007 - additional servers
We have set up an Exchange Server 2007 for test - now we want to roll it out to everyone. There is not enough storage space on the server and we have another server (not currently on AD, but will be). Can I put Exchange Server 2007 on this server
and then create mailbox storage groups on this from the original server.

You can install E2007 (assuming it meets the prerequisites - X64, Win2003), and then move the mailboxes to it, yes.Outlook Web Access For PDA , OWA For WAP

Hi there,
You can add it as an additional Exchange Server (will need mailbox role and possibly CAS and HT if you are removing the old server eventually) and create any new mailboxes on the databases you create for this server.
In regards to the mailboxes already present on the original server, you can simply move the mailboxes to the new Exchange Server. You can perform this via the Exchange Management Console or if you like to use Powershell, by using the Move-Mailbox cmdlet.

Remember if you have OWA, Outlook Anywhere, POP, IMAP and SMTP coming in to this Server at the moment to move these to the new server before removing the old one. If you are using Public Folders these will also have to be replicated before they the store
can be deleted.

I agree with Oliver. However, there can be one more plan also.
To explain this more in detail, the following are the steps (Keeping in mind that you have the old server also):
1. Install exchange with mailbox role only on a new server.
2. Move the mailboxes (If any) from the test server.
3. Move / create mailboxes in the new server and ensure that: OWA, Outlook Anywhere, POP, IMAP and SMTP are pointing to the old server (Test server).
4. Once you verify that OWA, Outlook Anywhere, POP, IMAP and SMTP & mail flow works fine, then remove the mailbox role from the old server (To ensure that there are no mailboxes created (Even accidently!)and distribute the server's load)
5. Now, you will have 2 servers. One will solely help in mailbox and the other is shared for HT & CAS roles.
The above is a recomended configuration with no much complexities.
If you choose to have only one server, then the plan by Oliver will be the one.
Hope this makes you clear!
Cheers :)
