Exchange 2007 / One Active Directory Domain
Hi there,
We have one Active Directory domain and 10 separate mail domains like test123.nl; test456.com; etcetera
When we need to create an info account for lets say test123.nl, we create an info user in Active Directory and connect him with the Exchange 2007 server and link the
info@test123.nl mailaddress to it. However when we want to create the same user for lets say the test456.com domain then we need to create an Active Directory user with an different username then info, lets say info2 and
then connect info@test456.com to it.
This is not the method we would like to do that.
What is the best way to work with multiple email domains and have the possibility to create identical accounts in these domains. We tested with DNS configuration and added the test456.com as DNS domain, however the username check stays the same in AD. Furthermore
we tested with an Child Domain Tree, but then we will need separate Domain Controllers for each mail domain.
We hope somebody has an answer to this.

Hi,
I know that this might not be what you are after, but I will write it anyway :)
What I do in these cases is to prepend a prefix to the account. Normally I have 2 or 3 letters in the prefix depending on the client. So I create them like this TST1-Info, TST2-info etc.
If you like it more seperate it sound more like a hosting scenario where I create the users with seperate UPN suffix. so
info@domain1.com and
info@domain2.com

You do not need to create multiple AD accounts. If you want the user to accept email for any of the 10 supported email domains, then you need to configure multiple authorative domains within the Exchange org and then you can create email address policies
to auto-generate the proper email address for the users.

Hi there,
We do not want to use accounts with prefixes as mentioned above and we already did a test with the mentioned UPN suffix. However the sAM accountname always has to be different. So you can create an user for
info@test123.nl and give it an sAM accountname (the pre windows 2000 box which still consists in Windows 2008 domains) like info, but when you create
info@test456.com this works for the UPn suffix and then you still need to choose for the sAM accountname another accountname like info456 otherwise you will get an identical user message. So how can we prevent that ?
We are aware that with configuring multiple authorative domains within exchange every user can get his own mailaddress, but this is not the problem. We want to create identical user accounts with other suffixes in one domain.

You need one AD account holding multiple e-mail addresses.. you can use additional smtp addresses... or you can tweak AD to add one more proxy addresses as we have in migration scenario where we have two mailboxes for one user.. but there are two mailbox
servers having one AD account..

As far as I know you can't have the same samaccount name for several users.
Can I asked why it is important that there is no prefix on the sam accountname?Exchange is a passion not just a collaboration software.

Everybody wants to use an simple login like info or sales or aftersales. With the prefix you get something like
info.test123@domain.local or
sales.test123@domain.local.
We are looking for a solution that makes it possible to create in 1 AD domain info@ 5 times or so.
