Exchange 2007 32-bit
Hi, today I installed the 32-bit version of Exchange 2007 in our lab environment. When starting the management console it reports that it's unlicensed and expires after 120 days. There's a link provided to enter the product key. However, in the actions pane the 'enter product key' action is not listed. So Exchange continues to be a trial version. But since it's in our lab for testing purposes I want to keep it running in there for more than 120 days. How can I enter the prodcut key in the 32-bit version ? Franc.

did you try: Code Block To use the Exchange Management Shell to enter the product key Run the following command: Set-ExchangeServer -Identity ExServer01 -ProductKey aaaaa-aaaaa-aaaaa-aaaaa-aaaaa Each aaaaa represents five alphanumeric characters of the product key. Restart the MicrosoftExchange Information Store service so that the change is applied.

Hi, yes I did. Doesn't work. Error message about invalid productkey, while this key works on our 64-bit version: Set-ExchangeServer : Cannot bind parameter 'ProductKey'. Cannot convert value " <prodkey>to type "Microsoft.Exchange.Management.SystemConfigurationTasks.ProductKey". Error: "Invalid product key."At line:1 char:65Franc.

You don't need to worry about that. Exchange 2007 32 bit does expire but will continue to work fine. Microsoft did this because they know that you cannot reinstall your test environment every 120 days My Exchange 2007 32bit test server is allready expired for several months and keeps working fine Read this article (go to section Evaluations and Product Keys) http://blogs.technet.com/scottschnoll/archive/2006/12/31/exchange-2007-platforms-and-product-keys.aspx Deli

Thanks for the clarification. It's all clear now. It would be nice though to get rid of the dialog popping up on launching the MMC... Franc.

Sorry, you will have to live with that but since it is only a test environment that is not so bad It does keep working that is far more important I think Deli

Agreed! I'm currently building the test environment, so I'm confronted more with the dialog. But just like our 64-bit production environment, once it's up and running you don't use the MMC that often anymore. Franc.

I found that if you have a 64bit server in your test environemnt you can set the key for all servers including the 32bit servers using the 64bit server. No more naging Select each one in the Management Console and use the start the Enter Product ID wizard in the Action pad.(the enter product id task does not showupin the32bit Managemnt Console. I assume this would work from the Exchange Management Shell on a 64bit server as well (maybe even a x64 managment workstation) but I didnt try it yet and it did not work in the 32bit Management Shell.
