Exchange 2007 BadMail
Has anyone found a work around so that BadMail can be received by the administrator on Exchange 2007? We have been running 2000 for years and have affectively managed bad mail and need the same function in 2007.

There is no BadMail folder in Exchange 2007. This was disabled in Exchange 2003 sp1.

Q: How do you enable the BadMail directory and the ability to keep your BadMail in Exchange 2007?A: BadMail is always discarded by Exchange 2007 transport. There's no way to optionally retain it to disk (via reg key setting, etc) like there was in Exchange 2003.

Explanation: As with exchange 2007, Badmail will be generated by Pickup or Replay directory. The messages that are determined to be badmail are left in the directory and are renamed from .eml to .bad, and if .bad message already there, itll rename to MessageName.Date.bad. When badmails exist in your system, related event log will be generated to remind you [These event errors will not be generated repeatedly]
You can also enable Messaging Tracking Log to monitor badmail event
Notes: Also you can use Set-TransportServer to set transport configuration options which are related to Pickup or Replay directory

Hi James, Your response seems to be on the right track, however I can't find a way for it to keep the messages as ".bad". It seems no matter what I do it just deletes the mesages off.The Message Tracking isn't enough; I also need to be able to read the content of the message, and it looks like badmail tags are only for outgoing mail. I do find Undelerable addresses under the EventIDfailed.
I still am baffled that Microsoft would remove this option without a work around.
