Exchange 2007 Certificate renew
Hi We need to renew the 3rd party certificate on our Exchange 2007 system and I want to clarify the process as the person who normally deals with this (and who did it previously) is not available at the moment. Can I assume this can NOT be done via the IIS console and must be done via powershell ? We want to renew the certificate with exactly the same details as previously and with the same CA provider so is there any way to get the correct syntax for the certificate request from the current certificate ? We obviously need to get this right first time as the certificates are expensive and also we cannot afford the system to become unavailable if we get something wrong with the certificate. Thanks.

Hi, First you have to request a new cert from any third party, try get-exchangecertificate |fl it will give the required details about the certs & then follow these articles http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb851505(EXCHG.80).aspx http://www.exchangeinbox.com/article.aspx?i=114 http://blog.sembee.co.uk/post/Exchange-2007-and-SSL-Certificates-Take-2.aspx http://www.digicert.com/ssl-certificate-installation-microsoft-unified-communications.htm Yes you have to use power shell for it. Hi jarweb, I would suggest you make a call to the specified CA provider if you are using 3rd party certificate. And similar post, please see: Renew existing Digicert Certificate on Exchange 2007 http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrsecuremessaging/thread/d4c7649d-2bc2-455a-aa3f-621cdff4f852/Frank Wang

It can be done with Powershell for Exchange 2007 with SP1 , for exchange 2010 it can be done from EMC. Also the above articles are very helpful
