In Exchange 2007 I can see two entries for Display Name 1. Within the Mailbox properties in the EMC 2. On the AD account of the mailbox Can someone tell which one is supposed to take precedent if the two are different? I see different results for different accounts?

The AD is the source of all things related to Exchange. The name you see in Outlook should eventually change to agree with the AD. Hi Rich Sure, but what I'm saying is that I can see two places to enter Display Name - the Exchange 2007 Management Console and also Active Directory Users and Computers. Which value actually takes precedence?

1. None, These values should synch, if set in EMC it will update in AD, if changed in AD, it will update in EMC. As a test change and check the results in the GAL.Sukh

Which value actually takes precedence? Both tools update the same AD property. There's no "precedence". FYI, you can also use the EMC, ADSIEDIT, LDIFDE, ADSI, etc. to change AD properties.
