Exchange 2007 Distribution Groups
Hi, I recently setup a whole bunch of distribution groups for an organisation we recently acquired. Some of our other departments are not using Exchange but are using a POP3/Imail setup. I need to know how do I let certain e-mail ranges (*@blah.com) send to distribution groups in Exchange? In Mailflow settings I see the Message Delivery Restrictions but as far as I can tell I can only uncheck require all senders are authenticated which would leave these distribution groups open to receive mail from anyone... If I choose who can and can't send then they need to be active in Exchange either as a Mailbox User or a Mail Contact, I want to avoid this. Is there a way to achieve what I want here? I think you are going to have no other good choice than to create a mail-enabled contact and then set the restriction based on that.

This won't work, if I created a mail enabled contact for that user, they will never receive the e-mail will they? How will Exchange know where to send it? Won't it think there is a mailbox for that contact and not deliver the mail?Terry http://www.sucked-in.com

A mail-enabled contact will have an external target email address associated with it, so Exchange will know how to route. There is no mailbox associated with it. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124519(EXCHG.80).aspx New-MailContact
