Exchange 2007 Mailbox DataBase
Hi All, How to reduce the Database size which is growing fast. 2 weeks ago I changed the setting at all Mailbox Databases properties The deleted item retention period chaged from 2 days to 14 days , it was growing fast and grown upto 270 GB which was 190 GB only. Once I noticed I reset to 1 day deleted item retention period , now its OK just stable at 270 GB . I need to bring it back to real state or reduce to 190 GB again. Any help / advice please. We have SCC setup , 8 SGs & 8 DBs. Thanks in advanced. Amjad

Hey Amjad, You have two options here to reduce the size of database. 1. Offline Defragmentation of DB, check below similar thread for it.... http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvradmin/thread/75273abb-56bc-4e6f-b84c-f28aab2843fa/#3f3f20e1-5b48-4b44-b672-c51f6d887188 2. Option 1 requires Exchange Server downtime so you can create a new SG and a DB, move all the mailboxes from existing DB to this new DB to reclaim the white space.
