Exchange 2007 Management Console cannot search on all AD objects
Hello,
We have an AD structure such that there are both Folders and OU's into which objects are organized. When I am in Exchange Managment Console and need search for existing objects that I would like to mail enable or otherwise modify, and they are in a folder
and not an OU, management console does not seem to be able to find them. Is there a way I can remedy this? I have already modified the scope to View all recipients in forest, and that did not help.
Thanks

What do you mean by "Folder" ?
Can you give me an example dn of an object that's in a folder?

Sorry, Container is the better term. For example, we have a container which holds a certain set of security groups that I would like to mail enable. If they resided in an OU instead of a container I would be able to search for them within exchange management
console and mail enable them. since the Container they reside in is not an OU, EMC does not seem to include them in it's search. It also appears that if the objects in wuestion are in a sub-container of any OU, they are also not seen by EMC. When I search
for the same objects with ADUC it finds them just fine, so I know they are present.
I guess my question is how I get EMC to search all of AD, or at least both OU's and containers.

Any denies set on those containers or is inheritance not enabled?
What happens when you explicitly set the recipient scope in EMC to those containers?
Much of what you see in EMC depends on what you are looking for as well. If mail-enabled objects arent in those containers or the AD accounts are disabled etc...

When I attempt to change the recipient scope in EMC, containers are not listed in the AD tree. Only OU's are listed in the AD tree in EMC. Actually, it appears that I may need to enable something in EMC that is similar to the "Advanced features"
option in the ADUC's View menu. If I uncheck that option in ADUC, I get the same list I see in EMC. OU'S only, not containers

What happens if you try it from the EMS, using
-organizationalunit "dc=<containername>,dc=domain,dc=tld"

The issue was that these groups were global. I'll have to change them to universal
