Exchange 2007 OWA - Error Cannot connect to directory server
Hi, I am installing Exchange Server 2007 SP1 on Server 2008 and all of the setup went well. I am running into two problems though... The first problem is that when I access the owa site I can send internal emails just fine, but when I type in an external email address I get the following error "Error Cannot connect to directory server. If the problem continues, contact technical support for your organization." After hours of debugging I am able to send emails from an external domain in ie someone@gmail.com to someone@mydomain.com. I am also able to reply to them and it gets out. Also, I can add people to my address book and I can send them email even if it is an external domain. What am I missing? Everything works but I just can't send an adhock email!! Ok, so my second problem.. This may be link or not... When I try to setup Outlook 2007 on a computer that is logged into the domain, it finds the username and email address.. Then I select next and it goes to configure. The Operation fails when it goes to log on to server. I hit ok and it brings up the exchange server preference and mailbox. When I click Check name, I get the following error "The name cannot be resolved. The operation failed." I can ping the server, and telnet to the server. Please help!!! Thanks....

Hi,First please try to ping GC/DC from Exchange Server. The problems may occur when the connection between Exchange Server and Domain Controller is abnormal. We also can run ExBPA to have a health scan.ExBPA always canlog these problems in its report.Besides,we can try to type Domain controllerinstead of Exchange Serverduring the outlook profile configuration and then click "check name" to see if it can resolve the name.Regards,Xiu
