Exchange 2007 OWA Access is Denied when logging out or opening contacts/calander etc...
Hi all, I really hope someone can help. Someone is after messing up our OWA and now we're trying to clean up a mess. We are running Windows Server Enterprise 2003 R2, IIS6, and Exchange 2007. OWA was unable to send or receive mail or do anything, we resolved this by adding .owa extension to application extension on Default web site. Evertything looked like it was working untill we delved a little deeper. Can send and receive mail just fine but if someone trys to open contacts they get an ACCESS IS DENIED error. It looks like there is some permission trouble for executing scripts on a folder somewhere because if a user trys to log out they get: The page cannot be displayed You have attempted to execute a CGI, ISAPI, or other executable program from a directory that does not allow programs to be executed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please try the following: •Contact the Web site administrator if you believe this directory should allow execute access. HTTP Error 403.1 - Forbidden: Execute access is denied. Internet Information Services (IIS) removed and re-added OWA virtual directorys using Remove-OwaVirtualDirectory -identity "GMLVSRV01\owa (defualt web site)" New-OwaVirtualDirectory -OwaVersion "Exchange2007" -Name "GMLVSRV01\owa (default web site)" but still same issue. Any ideas greatly apprecitated at this point. Thanks, Nick

Is the application name "owa"? Is it assigned to the "MSExchangeOWAAppPool"? --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Hi Nick, I’d suggest you removed the htm and he html extension in the configuration of the virtual directory and this have resolved the issue 1: Go to IIS Manager 2: Right click on OWA Virtual Directory 3: Go to the properties of OWA Virtual Directory 4: Click on the Configuration Tab on the Virtual directory page 5: Under Application Extensions section check if Htm or Html extensions are added. 6: If you find Htm or Html extensions, select them and remove it from the list.
