Exchange 2007 OWA and rogue messages in Outbox
Environment: Exchange 2007 with latest SP and patches running on Windows Server 2003 64-bit with latest SP and patches.I have noticed that occasionally I will login to OWA to look at my mail and there are items showing as being in the Outbox folder ... yet when I connect to my mailbox using Outlook 2007 no such items are visible.The emails in question were definitely sent by me and were definitely received by the recipients.Any suggestions as to why this would be? They just sit there in the OWA Outbox, day after day, until I eventually delete them.

Kinda of an ongoing issue. I assume you are at Exchange 2007 SP2.How about the clients? If Outlook 2007, ensure they are at the latest SP2 plus rollups as well.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973404 and create a new Outlook profile.Even then , the issue may continue :(If you google around, you'll see others that have had this issue as well.One quick way to see who else has items stuck in their outboxes is to use Powershell.Example:Get-Mailbox -identity <alias>| Get-MailboxFolderStatistics | Where-Object {$_.Name -eq "Outbox" -and $_.ItemsInFolder -gt "0" }

Thanks Andy ... I've only noticed this on one client (my notebook, running Vista SP2 + patches + Office 2007 + latest SP + patches) ... but its possibly happening on others as well.I'm not too worried about it, at least not for the time being. I suppose that sooner or later a fix will turn up and it will all be magically fixed! I just wanted to check to ensure that it wasn't because of something I was doing that was wrong, and it looks like it isn't my fault.Thanks again.

Hi,That's the product issue for Outlook 2007. This issue may occur ifthe mail was moved from sent items folder to another folder in a quite short time after sending.The hotfix as below may fix this issue:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948716ThanksAllen
