Exchange 2007 SP1 - HMC 4.0 - Mailbox Permissions
Hi,We are using the above and we are trying to restrict users permissions on mailboxes within OWA.We are trying to deny the delete permission on authenticated users on one mailbox.Although when displaying the permission within Exchange Management Shell of that mailbox, all looks correct, when you login to owa as any user to that mailbox you can still delete e-mail.Is this a HMC4 issue? Does anyone know how i can resolve this?Regards,-- Mike LovelessMicrosoft EngineerGenesis Communications Ltd

Hi, We cannot deny user to delete emails from OWA. But if you want to maintain certain mailbox, then you can select to journal this mailbox. It lets you record all e-mail messages that pass through computers that have the Hub Transport server role installed For more information about journaling feature in Exchange 2007,you can refer to the below article: How to Enable Per-Mailbox Database Journaling http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123817(EXCHG.80).aspx Overview Journal http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998649.aspx Hope it helps. Hi, That is by design. Besides, please make sure that option "Do not permanently delete items until the database has been backed up" has been ticked on the mailbox database from Server Configuration-Mailbox-Mailbox Database. Hope it helps. Xiu
