Exchange 2007 SP1 / Server 2008 Ent Ed installation problems
Hi All, I am trying toinstall exchange 07 SP1on ahyper-vVM and getting the following errors. It fails the readiness checks, seems it can't connect with the DC. Any hints? Note: the DC is running on the parent server. there is also a secondary DC on another machine.Summary: 4 item(s). 0 succeeded, 4 failed. HI,I think you have communication issues with contacting Domain controller. As Vindod said please runDCdiag and NetDiag on the server. Also run the EXBPA readiness check on the exchange server to gather more information.Verify your Domain controller whether running minimum Windows 2007 SP1.Exchange 2007 Sp1 require minimum Windows 2003 SP1 for Schema master and GC servers. Troubleshooting: 1. Please confirm that all the requirements in the link from Chinthaka have been met 2. Is there any error event in the application log on the exchange server and DC? 3. Please describe current AD topology 4. Which DC holds the Schema Master? Could exchange server reach to that DC? Netdom Query FSMO 5. Please use the installation log to narrow down the cause

Hi All,Thanks for the replies. Basically I'm setting up a new client with 2 servers with 18gb ram each. Both running hyper-v with server 2008 ent installed and have setup cluster failover. I also made both servers DCs and I think this is where my problem lies (perhaps something to do with sharing nics with the VMs?). DCDiag showed the server is unable to connect to the DC on the parent server, but is able to connect to the second DC and vice versa if I failover the VM to the other server..Having said that, I read some MS documentation that said you should only have the hyper-v role installed. so... I haveresolved the issue by setting up my primary DC on a physical server and then created a backup DC VM. (have removed original DCs).Hope thats not too confusing :)Thanks.David.
