Exchange 2007 SP1 Message Tracking Stopped Working
Email is flowing without any issues. However, the message tracking tool is not showing recent messages when I search for one. Message tracking is (and has been)enabled on the Hub Transport Server. Our set up: Single Exchange 2007 SP1 server running Windows 2003 x64 R2 SP2 which is also a domain controller. When I search for RECEIVED emails I get nothing after 6PM yesterday, while I have sent various messages from an outside account this morning and received them successfully. I have rebooted the server and still the same odd behavior. I have looked at the actual tracking log file as well and there is data in them (though I haven't closely examined them) for the time period after 6PM yesterday. What could be causing this behavior? === Edited by hfamili @ 09 Jan 2008 5:51 PM UTC===Some additional information: right after 6PM yesterday the only entries i can get from the tracking tool are of event ID Submit. before that time I have all other event IDs (receive, expand, transfer, etc.), but after 6PM 1/8/08 only submit events. Any clues?

Solved the issue: 1. Disabled message tracking on the hub transport 2. Stopped the Exchange Transport Log Search, Transport and Mail Submission services. 3. Copied the latest message tracking log file to another name as backup. 4. Delete the latest message tracking log file. 5. Restarted the services in #2. All of the sudden the message tracking log file I had deleted re-appeared but much larger (90K vs. 700K now). Doing a search now pulls up all the records properly. Don;t forget to re-enable the tracking...
