Hi,According to this article it is supported:http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2007/08/16/446709.aspxWhich says:Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2, Exchange 2007, and Exchange 2007 SP1 (when released) are supported in environments that either partly or entirely use writeable Windows Server 2008 directory servers. To be more clear on it, read this doc here. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996719.aspx Domain functional level You should use at least Windows2000Server native for all domains in the ActiveDirectory forest where you willinstallExchange2007 or that will host Exchange2007 recipients.Mark Morowczynski|MCSE 2003:Messaging, Security|MCITP:ES, SA|MCTS:Windows Mobile Admin|Security+|http://almostdailytech.com

Yes you can. But i would suggest you to run exbpa - Exchange 2007 readiness check before you plan for implenting your organization for exchange 2007 server.check the following information. Domain functional level You should use at least Windows2000Server native for all domains in the ActiveDirectory forest where you willinstallExchange2007 or that will host Exchange2007 recipients. For more information about domain and forest functional levels, see Functional Levels Background Information in the Windows Server2003 Deployment Guide. Forest functional level If you plan to use any of the following advanced features, the forest functional level must be WindowsServer2003 in each forest that contains Exchange servers: Forest-to-forest delegation. For more information, see How to Configure Cross-Forest Administration. Ability for a user to select the type of free/busy information that will be available to users in another forest. Note: You can configure your Exchange servers to share free/busy information across forests that do not have a trust relationship. However, if you do this, users will not be able to select the type of free/busy information that will be available to users in another forest. The types of free/busy information are None; Free/Busy time; Free/Busy time, subject, location; and Full Details. If you do not want to use any of these advanced features, the forest functional level must be at least Windows2000Server. Hi wdhg , For your first concern YES you can install Exchange 2007 SP1 on domain contain Windows 2008 functional level. But you must confirm is there any plans to add any windows 2003 member servers in future. Windows 2008 functional level domain cannot holds and windows 2000 or 2003 Domain controllers. Refer Identifying Your Windows Server 2008 Functional Level Upgrade http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754209.aspx Deploying a Windows Server 2008 Forest Root Domain http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731174(WS.10).aspx Regards Chinthaka

Thanks Arun, I read the Exchange 2007 System Requirements and that's why I was asking the question. The section for the Forest Functional level was not clear... It says that the forest functional level must be WindowsServer2003 but it doesnt say that it needs to be at least WindowsServer2003. I need to be sure that all features will be working if the forest is set to Windows 2008.WDHG

Hi Chinthaka, Thanks for your reply.you wrote "Windows 2008 functional level domain cannot holds and windows 2000 or 2003 member servers."I disagree. Windows 2008 functional level domain can hold windows 2k or 2k3 member servers. BUT it cannot hold 2K or 2k3 Domain controllers. :) WDHG

Hi wdhg , If you set Functional level to Windows 2008 it is include all windows 2003 features. But consider above things. Refer below URL. Appendix of Functional Level Features http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc771132(WS.10).aspx Regards Chinthaka
