Exchange 2007 SP1 fails to uninstall
Environment:2 Exchange 2007 SP1 servers running on Windows Server 2003 SP2 (one is production mailbox / the other just journals every email)Issue:Journal serverSomehow .Net is no longer functioning for whatever reason and refuses to remove/add again. Add/Remove programs shows installed apps but cannot be Changed or Removed. You click it and nothing happens. Eventvwr shows tons of .Net related errors.I then downloaded a utility that removes all the registry entries of .Net so that I could try installing it again. It never finishes..hangs on trying to remove registry keys for .Net 2.0. Running Setup.com /mode:uninstallfrom C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Bin\ also fails due to .Net 2.0 not functioning.Production Server is fine. What I want:To get around this mess I'd like to wipe the journaling server and do a fresh install of Windows Server 2008 SP2 with Exchange 2007 SP1 but I'm not sure how to manually remove an Exchange server from our environment. Any suggestions or KB articles that you can steer me towards are greatly appreciated.

Do you have .net framework 3.5 installed, if not, install it and check...

BTW, Exchange server manual uninstallation is not supported. Proper removal from Add/Remove program or from cmd line as Mumin said...Amit Tank | MVP Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

Tried that. I posted this in my original thread: "Running Setup.com /mode:uninstallfrom C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Bin\ also fails due to .Net 2.0 not functioning."

No version of .Net will install. They all fail. Not sure how it got so messed up. I know it's not supported but it might be my only option. Really I just want to wipe the server and remove the instance of the journaling exchange server from my Exchange Organization.

The recover switch won't work as it only supports the same version of Windows to be used. I guess in theory I could reload Server 2003, attempt to recover, and then run the uninstall of Exchange. I'm running out of ideas here.

Well, the only way to manually remove the server is with ADSIEdit. I wouldn't recommend it b/c it could result in some serious issues with your enviornment. If .Net can't get deployed and you haven't been able to uninstall Exchange from the Server and Exchagne 2007 still sees the server in the EMC then I would wipe the server, rebuilt 2003 and recover the server. Probably your best bet (and safest) at this point.Just make sure everything is configured the same, drive letters etc.SF - MCITP:EMA, MCTS: MOSS 2007, OCS 2007, Exchange 2007
