Exchange 2007 SP3 install issue - now Topology service will not start
Hi. I am planning to move to Ex 2010 shortly so first needed to install SP3 on my current 2007 server. The install went very quickly without error and afterwards I rebooted the server. Now no services will start. If I try to manually start the topology service I get: The Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology Service service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified. I can't seem to be able to do anything now. Please help.

Hi Andrew, can you please verify that the file specified in the service properties do exist? Best Regards Timo

Now no services will start. The "very quickly" part is disturbing. Service Packs usually take serveral minutes to install. Do you have a policy that restricts the execution of Powershell scripts? I know that that would cause a very serious problem with Exchange 2010 but I'm not sure if 2007 is also affected in the same way. That condition, when installing Exchange 2010 SP2 results in the need to rebuild the server. >If I try to manually start the topology service I get: > >The Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology Service service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified. > >I can't seem to be able to do anything now. The Topology service file was missing however the problem was much larger. We had to completely rebuild the exchange server and restore from backup. We have finally now moed to Ex2010. Thanks for your help
