Exchange 2007 Setup
Hello, i am brand new to Exchange and need some help. I am setting this up in my little test enviroment first on my own personal email before i try it here at work. Here is what i have done so far and lost now.Currently have email thru GoDaddyUsed one of my useable IP address's and forwarding ports 25 & 443 to my exchange serverInstalled 2008 domain controllerInstalled a member server and installed Exchange 2007 on thatUpdated fullySet the Logs and Database to seperate hard drivesNow i am complete lost on what to do next. My internal domain name is testdomain.local and my external domain is example.net. I know i have tocreate an A record and MX record but not positive on thatThanks for any help

Hi, What you are trying to set-up is an email infra in your test environment, does you require to route mails bound to internet and at the same time to accept mails coming from internet? If so, you have to create an MX record pointing to your Exchange 2k7 but if not, and if local mail routing is now working, i can say that it will work on your production environment because the local mail routing is working. I assume that you already created a send and received connectors and has configured or defined the accepted domains and its email address policy. If not, let us know at what stage are you now in your exchange configuration. Regards, LRMCP

hi,after you deploying exchange server 2007 in your test environment you must create send connector for your email domain,email address policies etc.out of your organization you must create mx records for your email domain. and then you must forward this mx recordsto your real ip address of your company.and then you can startmessaging over Exchange Server 2007.and you can configureother settings for your company such asOWA with SSL etc,Hight availabilityoptions LCR,CCR,SCR etc...on your modem or router you must configure the correct port numbers for communication such as 25,110,53,443...regards, Exchange - MVP | www.cozumpark.com | www.mumincicek.com

Sorry about the delay.I did not get any alerts sent to me that anybody replied. Anyways here is the updated situation.I will try and give as much detail as i can. ISP is Cbyeond Hosting Company is GoDaddy Test Server 1 is a 2008 DC Test Server 2 is my Exchange Server I have everything installed and updated I have ports 25 & 443 open and pointed to my WAN IP and then forwarded to my exchange server I can actually send email out to the internet just fine but cant recieve email I know its something with my A record and MX record but cant figure out how to make it work correctly I have Postini Spam filtering and been using it for the last year so i need to use the MX records they provided me for that to work. I would like to explain that a mail exchanger (MX) record for your mail server must exist on your external DNS server. You can use the Nslookup tool to determine if your MX records are configured correctly. Ensure that the mail servers you use as bridgehead servers or Internet mail servers have an MX record on your external DNS servers.
