Exchange 2007 System Attendant mailbox full
Hi all, I am receiving a lot of NDRs on my postmaster mailbox with the following reason; Delivery has failed to these recipients or distribution lists: Microsoft System Attendant The recipient's mailbox is full and can't accept messages now. Microsoft Exchange will not try to redeliver this message for you. Please try resending this message later, or contact the recipient directly. Sent by Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Diagnostic information for administrators: Generating server: hub.domain.com mailbox-sa@domain.com #550 5.2.2 STOREDRV.Deliver: mailbox full. Do you get any error regarding to SA mailbox in Event log of Exchange server? Hi Amit, Thanks for your information. I found my system attendant mailbox size was 30MB (which is not default i suppose). After increasing the mailbox size to 100 MB, i didn't see such NDR message anymore. There was no error in the event log. But i will keep monitoring it. Appreciate you. Thanks, Lin

We have a similar problem on our Exchange 2007 SP1 cluster. The System Attendant mailbox default size was 100MB and it's status was MailboxDisable when queried from powershell. So we went into ADSIEdit and doubled the mailbox size. This made mail flow once again but we still see the mailbox size increasing. How do we view the content to see what is being held and why? Or how do we clear the mailbox so we don't hit the limit again.

Note: These clients store Free/Busy information in public folders. • If you have storage limits that are configured to disable mailboxes when a particular storage limit is reached, the following event may be logged on Hub Transport servers: Event ID: 1022 Category: None Source: MSExchangeIS Mailbox Store Type: Error Description: Logon Failure on database "<database_name>" - Windows account Contoso\<ServerName>$; mailbox /o=ContosoOrganization/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/cn=<ServerName>/cn=Microsoft System Attendant Error: 1245 This issue occurs when the ExchangeLegacyDN attributes of the affected user accounts point to a deleted Administrative group. In this scenario, you must update the ExchangeLegacyDN attribute for each affected user. The ExchangeLegacyDN attribute must be updated to the following conditions: • The attribute must be converted to an X500 address type. Each user must have a unique X500 address. • The attribute must be updated to use a unique ExchangeLegacyDN attribute as appropriate for the Administrative group in which the user account is located.
