Exchange 2007 UM question
Based on the info on exchange 2010, it looks like the UM properties are contained either within the user mailbox or within AD- is that correct for exchange 2007 also? So for example, if we lost the server with the UM role, but still had AD and the mailbox servers, the user UM properties would remain intact (example- user extension, PIN, enabled for UM) correct? What about dial plans- where are they stored? Finally, if we did lose the exchange server with the UM role and had to build a new server and install the role, what would we have to configure again to get the UM working again-- anything?

“There are two locations in which UM properties are stored for a user: the Mailbox object and the user's Active Directory object. When you enable a user for Unified Messaging, you set the UM property on the user's Mailbox object. The user's Unified Messaging properties, such as the user's extension number, spoken name, and other properties for the user, are stored in the user's properties in the Active Directory directory service” ---------Refer to <Understanding Unified Messaging Users> As I know, dial plan is stored in the AD During DR, it’s true that you have to configure the server again, if you choose to rebuild the server completely instead of using /M:RecoverServer switch. Thanks James, I did come across that info on Technet after I posted this... looks like everything in in AD, mailbox, and some files on the filesystem. Sara
