Exchange 2007 and 2003 routing group connectors
Hi All
Right, we currently have an Exchange 2007 Environment which we are migrating to Virtual Machines
So the physical hub server is a memeber of a routing group connector to one of the 2003 servers what I would like to do is add the new Virtual server to this routing group connector but i am not sure the best way to achive this
any help greatly received
thanks

if you do a Get-RoutingGroupConnector, you should have 2 listed. If you add the | fl on the end of that command, you will see that each has a SourceTransportServers and TargetTransportServers. You should see these values flip-flopped for each
connector. You need to run the Set-RoutingGroupConnector for each one and add the new 2007 HUB server to the approprate parameter. If you want to keep both 2007 HUB servers in this parameter, be sure to specify both of them in the parameter.
If you just specify the new 2007 server, then that will be the only server that gets set to that parameter.

Great thanks very much that is exactly what I was hoping
Just one last quick question, will the Exchange automatically load balance between the 2 servers in the routing group connector
thanks

Yes, the HUB role will load balance by default if more than 2 HUB servers exist in the same AD site. See this link:

ok this is great but I am a little stumped on the syntax of the command
set RoutingGroupConnector -Name "RGC 2007 tpo 2003" -SourceTransportServers "server.domain" -TargetTransportServers "server.domain" -Cost 100 -Bidirectional $true -PublicFolderReferralsEnabled $true
ok so if I run this it asks me for the identity so I type the name RGC 2007 to 2003 and it tells me that the routing group connector could not be found
