Exchange 2007 and Windows 2008 R2
Hi AllI am hearing conflicting information regarding Exchange 2007 SP1/SP2 and Windows 2008 R2!There are a couple of threads I can see, but some are quite old, so I was hoping to consolidate them and hopefully someone 'In the Know' could answer them? 1. In terms of OS, is Exchange 2007 SP1/SP2 supported on Windows 2008 R2 2. In terms of DC, is Exchange 2007 SP1/SP2 supported to run in an environment where there is even just one 2008 R2 DC in the same site as the Exchange servers 3. In terms of DC, is Exchange 2007 SP1/SP2 supported to run in an environment where the domain functional level is 2008 R2? 4. I assume the problem is related to Windows 2008 R2 only, not Windows 2008 SP2? Thanks all.

See Elvis post in this and is very clear http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesoftwareupdate/thread/1f0be2c7-0de0-492a-9cfd-18cdc5891bc8"Exchange Server 2007 SP2 will not be supported to run on Windows Server 2008 R2. But if you have a domain controller which does not run Exchange, you can upgrade it to Windows Server 2008 R2 since it is supported scenario to run against Windows Server 2008 R2. ""Stand alone DC/GC can be Windows Server 2008 R2 and it is supported to have Exchange Server 2007 SP2work against these DC/GCs.However there isNO support for any Exchange Server 2007 SP2 components (any roles, including admin tools) installedon Windows Server 2008 R2.Exchange Server 2007SP2 will not even install on it - the pre-req check will fail during installation."Hope this answers all the 4 questions.Raj
