As many of you know GroupWise does a great job with attachments. If I was to send an email to all employees with an attachment this attachment would only be store on the server ONE time. Exchange, however, stores it for every intance, email
address. Is there a way to have one instance of the attachment on the server no matter how many users it is sent to within our company?Thank you, Frank Brown NextGen NCP IT Network Administrator

Exchange 2007 and earlier has Single Instance Storage built in, i.e. if a message is received for say 100 people and all 100 people have mailboxes within the SAME EDB then the attachment is only stores once and the recipients are linked to that item.
However if any of the 100 are located within a different database then a copy of that attachment must be saved in the database as well.
NOTE: Starting with Exchange 2010 Single Instance Storage is no more so each recipient stores a copy of the attachment.
