Exchange 2007 disabled mailboxes
After disalbing user mailboxes in the Exchange 2007 Console the users email address still appears in the general properties page in Active Directory Users and Computers. How can I avoid this from happening or should I be disabling mailboxes some other way? There are too many users to have to go and remove theemail address information from each user object.

The email address field belongs to the windows set of attributes and Exchange doesnt remove any info on it.If you want to clear it, you can create a script that first clears it and then disable the mailbox.lasse at humandata dot se, http://anewmessagehasarrived.blogspot.com

That doesn't make any difference since other Exchange attributes (like mailNickname, displayName, homeMTA, homeMDB, msExchHomeServerName...) have been removed which are mendatory for any object to be mail(box) enabled when you disable the mailbox. However, ADModify.NET is a powerful tool to do bulk changes on AD objects, You can use it to remove the value of Emailattribute from multiple users in a single shot.Select all users in ADModify.net which you want to modify and type the word null in the field to clear the value...ADModify.NEThttp://www.codeplex.com/admodifyUsing ADModify to Change Exchange Specific AD User Attributes in Bulkhttp://www.msexchange.org/articles/ADModify-Change-Exchange-Specific-AD-User-Attributes.htmlAmit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com
