Exchange 2007 disconnected mailbox missing after database deletion
In Exchange 2007, if I have a disconnected mailbox whose home database is set for 90 day retention, and before that 90 days is up, I delete that database, do I lose the ability to recover that mailbox? ChristiaanChristiaan Zaluzec

Hi Yes, disconnected mailboxes are stored in the mailbox database where they were deleted. If you restore the database within the 90 day retention period then the disconnected mailbox will be recoverable. Steve

Yes. It'd be hard to reconnect something that no longer exists, wouldn't it? --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

He'll have to recreate the store in the EMC (if it was removed from Exchange), making sure that it's named identically to the original, before he can restore the database file. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

When you delete the database, the disconnected mailbox also are removed. If you need to reconnect it, you can follow Steve's suggestion to do that, restore the database within the 90 day retention period. Thanks, EvanEvan Liu TechNet Community Support
