Exchange 2007 fails on Organization PreReq. check
I am trying to install Exchange 2007 on a small training network that is not connected to any outside network. Currently I am running 2 servers, both with 2003 R2. Server 1 is a DC and file server. Server 2 is currently a Backup DC/Global Catalog, and an App. server. I am trying to install Exch. 2007 on Server 2. At first during the Org. Prereq. check I would get"Exchange Setup has encountered an error." It would let me click 'OK' thenwould close.I checked the Exchange Log and there were never any errors in the log. After trying install 2 or 3 more times I am now getting an error in the logs during the Organization Prereq. check: Error: External Component has thrown an exception.

Yes, are there any event logs? And since Exchange 2007 SP2 has been released for a long time, you can download and install it directly. Also Microsoft suggest to install Exchange 2007 on a dedicate server , no AD, no applicate services. And Exchange 2007 System Requirements http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996719.aspxFrank Wang

I thank you both for your help. I came in this morning and decided to give it one more try before I posted my logs and now it's passing it's checks. I guess leaving it over the weekend to think about what it had done was the trick;-)
