Exchange 2007 installer is detecting Exchange 2003 when it doesn't exist
When attempting to install Exchange 2007 on a Windows 2003 x64 domain member server it fails the readiness checks stating that: "One or more servers in the existing organization is running Exchange 2003 without SP 2 (or later). Installation cannot proceed until existing Exchange Server 2003 computers are upgraded to SP 2. Warning: Cannot find the Recipient Update Service responsible for domain 'DC=domain,DC=com'. New and existing users may not be properly Exchange-enabled." There is no existing Exchange 2003 servers installed on the domain, and I was unable to find any helpful data online regarding the "Recipient Update Service". I'm not sure what to do from here and how to resolve this so I can move forward and install MS Exchange. Does anyone out there know the solution?

Sounds like at some point you did have Exch 2003 servers. Also, sounds like the RUS wasn't removed properly when you were decommissioning the Exch 2003 server. Can you open ADSI Edit and navigate to: Configuration Partition -> Configuration -> Services -> Microsoft Exchange -> OrganizationName -> Address Lists Container -> Recipient Update Services Any values in there? If so, you can delete them. More info: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb288905(EXCHG.80).aspx Also check for any servers that did not get removed: Configuration -> Services -> Microsoft Exchange -> ExchangeOrganizationName -> Administrative Groups -> First Administrative Group -> Servers Any OLD values in there? If so, you can delete them. Tim Harrington - Catapult Systems - http://HowDoUC.blogspot.com

Excellent. Thanks @TWHarrington! There were no RUS entries but I did remove all the servers from the .../First Administrative Group/Servers. I no longer receive the error about existing exchange 2003 servers. Now I'm receiving a new error: "The nominated exchange server for offline address book 'Default Offline Address Book' has been deleted. Nominate a valid server and restart setup." The recommended action is to create a new offline address book, which sounds simple enough, but the first step is to "start the exchange management console". It doesn't look like the Management Console is available in the "All Programs" list. I did try to run "New-OfflineAddressBook" from the powershell, but the command was rejected as unknown. Any help with this one?
