Exchange 2007 mail delays
Some Outlook 2007 users have been reporting delays of several hoursin their email delivery. We have one AD domain with 2 domain controllers. Both domain controllers also host the Global Catalog. Exchange 2007 is running on a Dell PE2950 withWindows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 SP2. The PE2950 has1 Quad core Zeonprocessor and16GB of RAM. Forefront Security for ExchangeServer is also running on thePE2950. The Exchange server is configured with all Exchange roles except for Edge Transport. We currently don't have an Edge Transport server for Exchange. We have 1000 mailboxes which, on average, I would classify as medium usage. What is the most likely cause of these random mail delays? How can this problem be resolved?

Hello,
In order to troubleshoot the issue. Please reproduce the issue, then use the queue viewer(EMC | Toolbox | Queue viewer) to look for more information. The messages hang in which queue and whats the last error for that queue.
You also could use message tracking center to track the problematic email. Check it hangs in which phase.
Do these recipients have some same characters? For instance, in the same domain, or theyre distribution group or ect
Thanks,
Elvis
