Exchange 2007 manually remove
Hi all:
In the migration process the old Exchange server 2007 was damaged, I tried to install again with the disaster option but I received errors. I want to know if I can delete the object using ADSI Edit in CN=Servers,CN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT),CN=Administrative
Groups,CN=Domain,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=Domain,DC=com.
I deleted the Public Folders object in the AD, I am not using OAB Public Folders distribution, in the BP Analizer I received alerts like "Site folder server deleted" and "The OAB Site Public Folder Store was deleted", what I have to do to manually remove
the public folders reference or something like that in the AD?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
first of all it should be noted that you have to avoid using a low-level AD editor like ADSIedit at all costs. Unless you cannot do otherwise of course.
Yes, it is possible to remove references from AD using ADSIedit. However; what I'm wondering. What happened to the old server? Is it still being used?
Are you trying only trying to remove a PF database from AD?
The PF-attribute can be found under:
CN=Folder Hierarchies\CN=Exchange Administrative Group\CN=<Organization>\CN= Microsoft Exchange\CN= Services\CN= Configuration\DC=<Domain Name>\DC=com

According to the article below, "The OAB Site Public Folder Store was deleted" will appear if the incorrect value has been found in the “siteFolderServer”
attribute of a public folder database
Offline address book site public folder deleted
Disaster mode is the best way to remove this damaged server, it’s not recommended to remove exchange server via ADSI. So, please backup AD
before performing any action on it. You can refer the post from Amit Tank in

Hi Michael:
The old server is not working anymore, I tried to reinstall it using the "recoverserver" switch but it doesn't work, I think that I have to remove manually Exchange 2007 from the Organization, until now I could not find official documentation about it.

Carlos,
first: MSFT does not support removing Exchange 2007 manually. So the best way is still trying to get the old server back to 'work' and remove it the proper way. If all else doesn't work and if adsiedit is the only option left, I'll post some tips on how
to do that.
You said that you weren't able to use the recoverserver-switch. Did you get any error when you tried? What was it? How did you reinstall the server.
High-level plan on how doing that:
1. (re)build another server with the samen name as the Exchange 2007 server.
2. reset (DO NOT DELETE) the Exchange 2007 computer account in AD.
3. add the temporary server to the domain
4. try running setup with the /recoverserver switch
5. after install do a 'gracefull' uninstall of E2K7
Grts,
Michael
