Exchange 2007 prep
Hi all, All my DCs are 32 bit Windows 2008 FFL and DFL 2003 and we are look to introduce Exchange 2007. I was told I could bring up a member server 64 bit login with Schema rights and using Exchange 2007 SP2 CD extend AD schema is this correct ? TIA Darren

You can use the 32 bit SP2 setup to prep the forest for Exchange 2007 if needed. 64-bit is not required for the prep steps. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125224(EXCHG.80).aspx How to Prepare Active Directory and Domains http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/migration-deployment/closer-look-preparing-active-directory-exchange-2007-part1.html

If you are running a single domain, then you don't even have to prep manually at all. Running the setup GUI will do it for you (as long as you logged in with an account with the relevant permissions). Manual prep is only required where there are multiple domains in the forest. Although if this is a new deployment I would go straight to Exchange 2007 SP3. Simon. Simon Butler, Exchange MVP. http://blog.sembee.co.uk , http://exbpa.com/

Yep. And that's a good point. The manual preparation steps arent required for everyone!

We are actually going to go with exchange 2010 but because we are a Lotus notes shop , and migrating to exchange we need to install Ex 2007 connector for co-existence then move users to ex2010 > the entire exchange setup will be handle by email team . I work with the AD team therefore will need to prep AD for exchange 2007 . Can we prep AD for exchange 2007 as described previously ? thanks "Sembee" wrote in message news:9d782d15-192f-4463-b6ad-e098bf7c8948... :) Ah, you were asking about the 64bit. Yes, as long as the server and the account running the prep utils meets the requirements in the links I posted earlier.
