Exchange 2007 protocol logs missing eventhough verbose is enabled
I'm trying to fetch graphical reports in Exchange 2007 using this great guide (http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/monitoring-operations/creating-graphical-reports-exchange-2007-part1.html ). The guide told me to enable verbose logging on the send connectors. I did this on both the edge server and on the hub server. So far so good. Many of the report queries access the log files in the default directory like so : "C:\Progra~1\Microsoft\Exchan~1\TransportRoles\Logs\ProtocolLog\SmtpSend\SEND*.LOG" Apparently on the HUB Server there are no log files in the SmtpSend & SmtpReceive directory. On the EDGE Server there is only a logfile in the SmtpSend directory (not in SmtpReceive). Why could this be ?

Personally I always move the logs in to dedicated directories. Usually on the same drive as the transaction logs, as they can become quite large. Gets them out of the application location. It shouldn't be too hard to correct any reports to use the new location. I would start by doing that. Remember to restart MS Exchange Transport service after making the change. Have you verified the logging level via get-sendconnector |fl and get-receiveconnector |fl ? Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP. http://blog.sembee.co.uk , http://exbpa.com/
