Exchange 2007 spam filter
Hello, It seems the spam filter of exchange 2007 is not powerful enough to filter out the spam emails. e.g. 1. could it filter out the email with only pictures? I did not find any setting for this? It is mostly about IP filter, sender/receiver filter/content filter. 2. I update the spam filter, but it seems no list (content, sender.etc) is updated. I could not see if anything changed there. thanks! Regards, Lily

I know it has those function, but my question is 1. If it could filter out the email with only pictures. I did not find any setting for this? It is mostly about IP filter, sender/receiver filter/content filter. 2. I update the spam filter, but it seems no black list (content, sender.etc) is updated. I could not see if anything changed there. thanks!

1. Yes it can filter the images based on the file type .jpg, .png etc from exchange as well as outlook. Not sure if this can be done for the embedded ones.http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2007/03/30/437366.aspx2. The Content Filter is regularly updated using the Anti-spam Update Service (Windows Update) in order to ensure that it always contains the most up to date information when runningRaj

thanks Raj. but it seems the filter does not work for the embedded images. are you sure the content list will be updated? I did run the update, but it seems no list is updated, the list stays the same before i update it.

As i said earlier , i doubt if this works for embedded images.Content list will be updated with the updates that you install. If the list is not updated, it means there was not content in these updates. probabaly need to wait for next update.Raj

Hi Lili, For the first issue, please try the following command: add-attachmentfilterentry -name image/jpeg -type ContentType Add-AttachmentFilterEntry http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123931.aspx Before doing the steps above, please make sure you have read the article http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/planning-architecture/uncovering-exchange-2007-edge-transport-server-part5.html provided by Raj. Regarding the second question, no content/sender list is updated. Yes, this is normal. I guess you mean the custom words/block senders tab in the anti-spam feature. The list is customized by yourself, but not be added by the updates. Thanks, Elvis
