Exchange 2007 stripping Display names on incoming emails???
We have a web application that a user can submit information on. It was setup to have a prepend/display name setup when email comes froma specific account. (ex. Vehicle Registration [Webmaster@abc.com]) This worked fine in Exchange 2003 and also when we upgraded to Exchange 2007. We initially had aco-existing setup between Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2007. We decommisioned our Exchange 2003 servers and noticed that email sent from this Web Application no longer showedthe Display Name/Prepend. Our Web developer wrote the perpend into the forms code so there is no Active Directory search involvedwhen a user submits the form and the web page sends email to us. This Webmaster account is also used for other Web Applications and each one uses a different Display Name/Prepend to indentify what application it is coming from. My question is there a setting or filter setting that automatically removes Display Names/Prepends.Wehave not created and specific filters or rules yet in Exchange 2007 and all of the settings thatExchange 2007 currently have are what was imported from Exchange 2003. When we receive email from normal users I have noticed that it is hit or miss with display names. Some emails have them and some don't. Tony

v\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} o\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} w\:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} .shape {behavior:url(#default#VML);} Not quite sure I follow. You're saying the display name isn't represented as it's shown in the Vehicle Registration app? What does it show instead, just the SMTP address? See this link: http://outlookexchange.blogspot.com/2007/04/do-not-display-display-name-in-internet.html Or if the address matches a GAL entry, it needs to be configured as such: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996395.aspx (search for "Resolve anonymous senders") Mike Crowley: MCT, MCSE, MCTS, MCITP: Enterprise Administrator / Messaging Administrator

Yes, it only shows the SMTP address and not the Display Name w/(SMTP Address). I know that it is cosmetic. The web developer wanted a way to differentiate between applications and use the same email address for all apps.
